During class today the students continued researching information for their SE Asia country project. Today was the 3rd day the students had to work and we will spend 3 more days next week finishing their research. In class on Friday we will be watching a video over Angkor Wat in Cambodia and getting notes from the textbook.

Today in class the students took a open note quiz over their SE Asia notes from Friday. We also discussed the project that we will be starting tomorrow. Students were put into partners today and they also selected their countries they will be researching. We will begin researching in the computer lab.
Southeast Asia Project (Presentation-Tues. Jan 28th)
Requirements:
Choose a method of delivery: (Prezi, costumes, poster, 3-D model, etc…)

-Population (Nearest 100,000 or Million) 5 Points
-One word in their language per partner (Also what does it mean in English) 10 Points
-Size of country compared to a state (Which state is closest in size) 5 Points
-Famous Landmarks (Buildings, Mountains, Rivers, Statues, Churches) 10 Points
-Fun things to do/Tourist attractions (Theme park, Ancient ruins, Zip Lining) 5 Points
-Major events in history (Wars, Natural Disasters, Diseases) 10 Points
-Local music (Playing a sample would be nice...no more than 30 seconds) 5 Points
-Living Conditions (Type of housing, rich or poor?, method of transportation) 5 Points
-Overall Presentation Quality (Did you know your stuff? Was it rehearsed well?) 20 Points

Today the students discussed the differences between renewable and nonrenewable resources. We also began talking about the countries that make up southeast Asia. I will be out tomorrow so we will continue learning about the countries on Thursday.

Today the students took an open note quiz over WWII and then they reviewed for their social studies midterm exam. What they need to know is in their notebooks.

The students began taking notes today about World War II. We will continue the notes tomorrow and Wednesday if necessary and then watch a video about Pearl Harbor, due to the anniversary on December 7.

The students began learning about Japan yesterday by reading section one from the textbook and filling in their notes. We finished the notes today and will continue with a video about Japan tomorrow.
